Factory reverse lights often leave you wanting more visibility when backing up at night. The Diode Dynamics HitchMount C1R LED Pod Kit adds a powerful reverse light, additional red running light and high-power fourth brake light directly to an open 2-inch or 2.5-inch hitch receiver.

The included 7-pin trailer harness provides automatic everyday operation. The red backlight illuminates with the vehicle’s running lights, the high-power red brake light activates when the brakes are applied, and the pod automatically switches to a bright white flood light when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

Three Functions in One Compact Light

During normal driving, the C1R’s red backlight illuminates with the vehicle’s running lights. Press the brake pedal and its high-power red output activates as a highly visible fourth brake light.

When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the pod switches to a powerful 6000K white flood light, providing wide, even illumination behind the vehicle.

Optional SafetyStrobe

For increased visibility, the C1R can flash its high-power brake light three times when the brakes are initially applied. The SafetyStrobe feature operates in 15-second intervals to avoid repeated flashing in stop-and-go traffic and can be disabled if a steady brake light is preferred.

Useful Light, Not Just More Light

The C1R uses Diode Dynamics’ engineered Total Internal Reflection optics to direct light into a functional flood pattern. Its wide 50-by-50-degree spread provides smooth, even illumination behind the vehicle, making it easier to see obstacles, line up a trailer or safely maneuver in dark campsites, driveways and parking areas.

Simple, Removable Installation

The patent-pending HitchMount design installs in minutes without drilling or a hitch pin. Insert the assembly into the receiver until its snap-fit side mounts lock into place, then connect the included harness to the vehicle’s factory 7-pin trailer wiring.

When the hitch receiver is needed for towing or another accessory, unplug the harness, press the retaining tabs and remove the light assembly. The included Deutsch connector cover helps protect the vehicle-side harness from dirt and moisture while the HitchMount is removed.

Check Compatibility Before Ordering

• The vehicle must have an open-back 2-inch or 2.5-inch hitch receiver.
• The vehicle must have a compatible round 7-pin trailer connector that can be disconnected from behind the bumper.
• The C1R brake-light version is not compatible with Ram trucks.
• Certain Ford, Chevrolet, GMC and Toyota applications require a separate vehicle-specific HitchMount kit or wiring harness.
• Some vehicles with advanced trailer-detection systems may require connection of the included auxiliary brake-signal wire.
• Due to differences between factory hitch packages, the light may not sit completely flush on every compatible vehicle.
• This product supplements the vehicle’s original lighting and is not intended to replace its factory tail lamps.
