Designed with a 350 lb max load capacity, 90° and 120° passenger-side swing positions, steel construction, and a forged latch with Flatlock™ Hitch Cam, the Pivot XD is purpose-built for demanding hitch-mounted setups.

Description

Introducing the Pivot XD swing-away hitch: the heavy-duty upgrade to the popular Pivot V2. Engineered for serious hauling, it delivers a substantial capacity increase along with enhanced components throughout. The Pivot XD is also designed to be accessorized with the Accessory Molle Hoop and Spare Tire Adapter, giving customers even more utility for overland and gear-heavy builds.

Every major component has been enhanced for superior strength and durability. The forged latch design is built for rigidity, while the custom-machined safety pin adds best-in-class stability. Combined with the included locking hitch pin and Flatlock™ Hitch Cam, the system is designed to keep your carrier secure and stable on the road.

Features

350 lb Weight Capacity

Built to handle serious loads, the Pivot XD supports up to 350 lbs, giving customers more confidence with heavier bike racks, cargo systems, and adventure gear. Kuat notes this is a substantial increase over the Pivot V2.

Distance matters: as cargo moves farther from the hitch, torque increases and allowable capacity drops. Kuat specifies:

• Up to 28 inches from the accessory’s hitch-pin hole to the furthest point: 350 lbs max total weight
• 28–40 inches from the accessory’s hitch-pin hole to the furthest point: 250 lbs max total weight

Kuat racks are limited to 3 bikes / 250 lbs max, and Kuat notes that loads within the 40-inch limit may still exceed some Class III receiver ratings, so users should verify vehicle and hitch tongue-weight limits.

90° to 120° Swing-Away Operation

The Pivot XD offers dual locking positions at 90° and 120°, allowing users to choose standard clearance or maximum rear access. This makes it especially appealing for trucks, SUVs, vans, and tailgate-heavy setups where space and angle matter.

Forged Latch & Oversized Handle

The forged latch is designed for superior rigidity and a secure closed position under load. Kuat also highlights the oversized forged handle, which is easier to grip while securely locking the machined safety pin in place.

Patented Flatlock™ Hitch Cam

Kuat’s Flatlock™ Hitch Cam is designed to create a tight, more stable, rattle-reducing connection at the receiver, helping the Pivot XD feel more secure mile after mile.

Bike Rack Compatible & Accessory Ready

The Pivot XD is built to work with most 2-inch hitch bike racks and is also designed to pair with the Pivot XD Accessory Hoop with Molle Panel and Pivot XD Spare Tire Adapter, making it a strong platform for adventure and off-road-inspired builds.
